These Terms & Conditions are designed to support a safe, professional, and transparent experience for all clients receiving photobiomodulation (red light therapy) services.

By booking or attending an appointment, you agree to the following terms.

1. Nature of Services

My Light Clinic provides non-invasive photobiomodulation (red light therapy) wellness sessions intended to support general wellbeing, recovery, relaxation, skin health, energy, and overall wellness.

Photobiomodulation therapy is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease and should not replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from your GP or healthcare provider.

Contraindications and Precautions

Photobiomodulation (light therapy) is generally considered safe and well tolerated. However, certain medical conditions may require additional precautions or medical clearance before treatment.

Please inform us before treatment if you have any of the following:

Medical Conditions Requiring Medical Clearance
  • Current or recent cancer diagnosis, or any unexplained skin lesion under medical investigation.
  • Photosensitive epilepsy or a history of seizures triggered by flashing lights.
  • Have recently undergone surgery or are under ongoing medical treatment.
  • Active infection, fever, or acute illness.
  • Pregnancy or suspected pregnancy.
  • Thyroid disorders, particularly if treatment may involve the neck area.
  • Autoimmune conditions associated with light sensitivity, including Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) or porphyria.
  • Significant eye conditions or visual disorders.
  • Medications

Please inform us if you are taking medications known to increase sensitivity to light, including but not limited to:

  • Tetracycline or doxycycline antibiotics
  • Retinoid medications
  • Certain antipsychotic medications
  • Other photosensitising medications
  • Additional precautions or medical clearance may be required before treatment.
  • Reduced Sensation or Nerve Conditions

Individuals with neuropathy or reduced skin sensation should inform their practitioner before treatment, as they may have difficulty recognising discomfort or excessive heat.

Tattoos and Permanent Cosmetics

Although uncommon, exposure to light therapy over certain tattoos or permanent cosmetic pigments may result in temporary skin sensitivity or changes in pigment appearance. Please inform your practitioner of any tattoos within the treatment area.

Skin Tone and Treatment Response

Individual responses to photobiomodulation therapy may vary according to skin type and pigmentation. Clients with darker skin tones may experience warmth at lower treatment doses or shorter exposure times.

This does not prevent treatment but may require a more gradual approach, with careful monitoring and personalised adjustment of session duration and intensity to ensure comfort and safety.

Eye Safety

Clients should avoid direct viewing of the light source during treatment. Protective eyewear will be provided where appropriate and should be used according to practitioner instructions.

Medical Advice

If you have any medical condition, are under specialist care, or are unsure whether photobiomodulation therapy is suitable for you, please consult your GP or treating healthcare professional before commencing treatment..

2. Eligibility

Clients must be at least 18 years of age to consent to treatment independently.

Clients under 18 years old may only attend with parental or guardian consent and supervision where appropriate.

My Light Clinic reserves the right to decline or discontinue treatment where it is considered unsuitable, unsafe, or not in the client’s best interests.

3. Health Information & Consent

Clients are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date health information prior to treatment.

By attending a session, clients confirm that:

  • they have disclosed relevant medical history,
  • they understand the nature of photobiomodulation therapy,
  • they understand results vary between individuals,
  • and they voluntarily consent to treatment.

Failure to disclose relevant medical information may increase risk and may affect suitability for treatment.

4. Results & Expectations

Individual responses to red light therapy vary and no guarantees can be made regarding outcomes or benefits.

While many clients report improvements in wellbeing, recovery, relaxation, mood, skin appearance, sleep, or energy, results depend on multiple factors including lifestyle, health status, consistency, and individual biology.

5. Safety

Protective eyewear may be provided or recommended depending on the treatment being administered.

Clients agree to follow all instructions provided by clinic staff before, during, and after sessions.

Clients should immediately inform staff if they experience discomfort, dizziness, irritation, or unusual symptoms during treatment.

Equipment Weight Capacity

For safety reasons, the photobiomodulation therapy bed currently has a maximum supported client weight capacity of 110 kg (approximately 242 lbs) while lying down.

Clients above this limit may unfortunately be unable to use certain equipment at this time for health and safety reasons.

My Light Clinic reserves the right to decline treatment where use of the equipment may compromise client safety, equipment integrity, or safe operation procedures.

6. Appointments & Cancellations

Appointments may be booked online, by phone, or directly through the clinic.

We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a cancellation fee or loss of session credit.

If you arrive late, your session may need to be shortened to avoid delays for other clients.

7. Payment Policy

Payment is taken at the clinic at the time of the appointment unless otherwise agreed.

We currently accept the following payment methods:

Packages, memberships, and promotional offers are non-transferable unless otherwise stated.

Unused prepaid sessions or packages are generally non-refundable except where required by law or at the clinic’s discretion.

Prices and promotional offers may change without prior notice.
